Chandra Prakash Joshi, affectionately known as C.P. Joshi, is an experienced and dynamic Indian politician, currently serving as the State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan. He has been a dedicated two-time Member of Parliament (MP) for the Chittorgarh Lok Sabha constituency since 2014, making remarkable contributions to the development of his constituency and the state of Rajasthan.
Born on November 4, 1975, in Bhadsoda village, Chittorgarh District, Rajasthan, C.P. Joshi’s early years were marked by the values of hard work, discipline, and service to others. Raised in a family deeply rooted in community service, Joshi's father, a farmer, emphasized the importance of perseverance and social responsibility, which later shaped his political outlook. His mother played a crucial role in instilling the values of compassion and public service, helping Joshi understand the needs of the common people.
Growing up in Chittorgarh, Joshi completed his early schooling in the local government school before pursuing higher education at the Government Post Graduate College in Chittorgarh. This period marked his first engagement with student leadership. As Vice President of the Student Union (1994-1996) at the college, Joshi began to showcase his leadership and organizational skills, gaining recognition for his ability to unite students around common goals.
Joshi’s political journey began when he joined Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the BJP, during his college years. His leadership capabilities within ABVP quickly earned him respect, leading him to become the District Vice President and later District President of Chittorgarh. His growing influence in local politics was further solidified when he was elected as a Member of the Chittorgarh District Council (Zilla Parishad) in 2000, a position that allowed him to contribute directly to rural development and governance.
His engagement with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) played a significant role in shaping his political ideology. The discipline, nationalism, and values of service to the nation that he imbibed from RSS made him a strong proponent of national unity and grassroots empowerment. These values guided his political approach throughout his career.
From 2005 to 2010, Joshi served as the Up-Pradhan of the Bhadesar Panchayat Samiti, where he worked to improve local governance, focusing on the development of roads, schools, healthcare facilities, and water infrastructure. His focus was always on addressing the practical needs of his constituents, especially in rural areas, to ensure their well-being.
His increasing political influence led to his appointment as the State President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in 2010. In this position, Joshi worked diligently to expand the party’s grassroots base and strengthen its youth wing. He focused on empowering the younger generation to take part in shaping the nation’s future through active participation in political processes.
In 2014, Joshi's leadership and dedication were recognized on a national scale when he was elected as a Member of Parliament for the Chittorgarh constituency. His victory was a clear indication of the trust and support he had garnered among his constituents, who appreciated his vision and commitment to their development. Joshi’s work in Parliament began with his focus on infrastructural development, healthcare reforms, agricultural welfare, and educational advancement.
His success in 2014 was followed by his re-election in 2019, where he secured one of the largest victory margins in the history of his constituency, further solidifying his position as a respected leader in Rajasthan. As an MP, Joshi has been an active participant in several parliamentary committees, including the Standing Committee on Commerce, Health and Family Welfare, and the Public Undertakings Committee.
In 2020, Joshi was appointed as the State Vice President of BJP Rajasthan, a position that allowed him to play a pivotal role in the party’s organizational development across the state. His appointment as the State President of BJP Rajasthan in 2023 was a recognition of his tireless work in strengthening the party's foundation.
